History:
The Woodbridge Board of Health rain garden was installed as part of the
Stormwater Management in Your Backyard program that trained the Master
Gardeners of Union County.
Type of Runoff Managed:
This rain garden manages stormwater runoff from the Woodbridge Board of Health's rooftop via two downspouts.
Installation:
Approximately ten Master Gardeners of Union County and Rahway River
Association members were present for the installation of the rain garden in Fall 2005,
which was approved by the Woodbridge Board of Health and the Woodbridge
Township Asssistant Municipal Engineer, Bask Patel. Rutgers Cooperative Extension faculty and staff provided technical oversite. Sand was used to amend the native soil to increase infiltration rates. The rain garden installation was featured in the Woodbrige News - click here to view the article.
