    Type of Runoff Managed:

This rain garden manages stormwater runoff from the roof of the Summit Middle     School via a downspout.

    Installation:

Summit Middle School students, members of the Summit Middle School Environmental     Action Club, Master Gardeners of Union County, and Rutgers Cooperative Extension     faculty and staff assisted in the installation of the Summit Middle School rain garden in     April 2009. After using a backhoe to excavate the 150 square foot area, sand was     added and mixed with the native soil. Additionally, the eixsting downspout had been     cut and adjusted to direct the runoff into the rain garden.
